- Sections 159 and 160 of the IEA FIR can be used to identify the accused, witnesses, and the location and time of the incident
- Under section 9 of the IEA can be both confessional and non-confessional.
- If it is confessional, then section 25 of the IEA FIR will apply.
- If it is non-confessional in nature, then section 21 of the IEA FIR will apply.
- This will result in the discovery of some object, then section 27 of the IEA will apply.
